The calculators are plain JavaScript executed by the browser that loaded them. Species choices, board dimensions and climate figures exist only in that tab, are written to no storage, and reach no server here or anywhere else. There is no sign-in and no saved state.

What I have added: no tracking, and two typefaces

I have installed no cookie, advertising network, tracking pixel or analytics tag of any kind. There is no mailing list. Once the tab is closed the site retains nothing whatsoever about the visit.

Type is the one thing I added that reaches off this machine. Libre Franklin and Roboto Mono are pulled from Google’s font service by the stylesheet, so the browser asks Google for two files and Google can see the address doing the asking. That happens while the page is still drawing, before any calculator has run, and none of what you type into one is part of it. Better stated here than discovered in a network panel.

The exception, which is not mine

The site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages, and Cloudflare injects its own Web Analytics script at the edge for browser requests. I did not add it and there is no per-project switch to disable it. It collects aggregate page-view data — pages viewed, referrer, country, browser type — and Cloudflare states that it does not use client-side state such as cookies or localStorage, and does not fingerprint individuals.

I would rather say this plainly than claim the site has no analytics at all, which would be untrue of the page as it is actually served. It is invisible if you fetch the page with a command-line tool and present when a browser loads it, which is a good reason to be explicit about it.

What the host records

Requests pass through Cloudflare, which retains ordinary operational logs — including the requesting address — to keep the service up and to stop abuse. Anything served over the internet works this way.

Links off the site

Outbound links to the Forest Service and other references land on sites governed by their own policies. They learn nothing about your visit here beyond the referrer that any link carries.

This site is published by DogDog Studios. For corrections to any figure — particularly if you have a primary source that contradicts one — the method and its gaps are laid out under sources, including everything I failed to confirm.
